{Upcycled Vintage}: DIY Framed Vintage Postage Stamps

If you are a postage stamp collector, you might want to stop reading here.  William had packed away his dad's vintage postage stamp collection in a box (hiding from his paper-hoarding wife).  We found it nestled in an old blue vinyl notebook and plastic pages, some stuffed in post paid envelopes and some pasted onto collection cards.  Most were from the 1960s.  I've been wondering what to do with them, and I have pondered making sure that they were not worth thousands of dollars before I separated them, but then I thought of this:  collage.  My plans are to make a giant one to go on our bedroom wall with the entire collection, save a few.  I did make a few small wall hangings with frames from the thrift shop and they were well-received gifts.  

Here's what you need. 

A frame of any size (I got several at the thrift shop for no more than $2.50 each, and most were $1 and below).  Adhesive.  Vintage postage stamps (or really just some you have collected or found...I have even found them at Half Price Books).  Scraps of patterned or solid card stock.  I used both.

All you have to do then, is measure the spaces that your stamps will go in, and mat the stamp to the card stock, layering as you wish.  I used black to mat the stamps, then layered them on patterned paper.  Then place them in your frame, and place on your desk or hang in your favorite room in your home, or give a few as gifts, and admire.  Easy and beautiful!
