What Disneyland Looked Like in 1983

Hello, hello! I was recently going through pictures for a slide show, and found an old yellowed magnetic photo album with a treasure trove pouring out of the edges of the closed book (magnetic albums from the 1980s have no more sticky to hold the photos...I'm not sure why I haven't taken them out of there before now).  Disneyland!  Universal Studios!  1983.  I was 13 years old and my brother was 12.  We drove from Texas to California with a few stops along the way.

Ever wondered what Disneyland looked like?  Especially through the camera eye of a teenager on her first trip (sorry, no manual mode greatness with filters in these...it was a Kodak 110)?  Take a look!

Tickets were quite different.

I couldn't remember who this guy was, but my brother photo bombed the lady trying to take a picture with him.  A little research and it turns out he's Br'er Bear.  Oh, yeah. That's right!

It's a Small World ...after all!  Looks just the same.  :)  But what is that at the top of the mountain below?  Is that the Matterhorn?  And the castle?  It's pink. Hmmmm....

Oh, a flash of a mouse from Small World. Must have like him.

A band on Main Street.

I must have been fascinated with Pirate's Cove, because I took a lot of pictures there.  And some of them were really, really bad.  Ha.

This dude is creepy.  When we went back to Disneyland this past October (2013), Katie wouldn't let us go to Pirate's Cove, so I'm not sure if he is still there or not.

I also found photos from the Jungle Cruise, I believe, but they were too dark to share.

I think these will need a few pages in my book from last year to compare, don't you?  How long has it been since you were in Disneyland?  I waited 31 years in between trips.  Whew...that's a long time!

    1. We told Katie we would take her to Disneyworld when she turns 10. :) Although I am partial to California, I think Florida will be a nice trip, and we will definitely check out Epcot!
